While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Right as I pulled out of Skegg's Vista Point parking lot heading north on 35 a large full grown mountain lion ran across the road (from east to west, about 50 feet north of parking lot). Great view, had just turned on the headlights. Right at dusk.

A puma was sighted on Escalona between Van Ness and Walnut at midnight Oct 27. Sighted going in yards at 724 Escalona, 757 Escalona and 1530 Laurel Streets, as well as 818 Escalona in Santa Cruz.

A very large mountain lion ran across our backyard at 28 Los Amigos Ct., Orinda last Monday night. It was dark, so we couldn't see it perfectly, but it was clear by the size and shape that it was a mountain lion.

I believe the attached photo shows a Puma print. I saw it Sunday morning on a section of trail in my yard that I had groomed the afternoon before. My boot is there for reference: About 12 1/2" long & 4 1/2" wide at the ball of my foot.

was walking back to my car with my dog, and my dog stopped turned around and when i checked and shinned my flashlight i saw the Lion. Lots of Scat on the trail during the day.

This is where i spotted 2 mountain lions after being followed by them for 3 hours on my hike up Mt Diablo. One appeared to be a little smaller than german shepherd, and the other i just saw its face but im certain it was much larger, and had a darker coat.

Cat was walking through the neighbors pasture. On the smaller side, maybe 50-60 lbs. I've found it's scat before in my yard, but this is my first sighting.

We were woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of our gate opening and then the footsteps of something heavy on the rooftop. I saw what looked like a cat the size of a large dog climb onto our backyard fence and perch there for a bit. It was dark but I could see its outline clearly. It ran off after I turned on the backyard lights so I didn't get a photo.
