Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map

My daughter and I were walking on our property at dusk. She was on my back about 100' from our home. When we were about 5' from our playgound we noticed a mountain lion laying down ontop of a small mulch pile. We had a clear view and when it noticed and heard us it ran away quickly. The lion was approximately 4.5' long (with tail) and 2.5' tall on all 4 legs.

This was our second sighting within the same location. The first sighting was approximately 2.5 months ago. I reported the sighting to a UCSC Puma Tracker person who was tracking a lion in the creek about 1 month ago. He mentioned that the lion he was tracking was named "83M" according to their naming convention.

A good Sam. called the veterinary hospital I work for stating he found a deceased Puma on the side of the road. An apparent Hit By Car in between Bonny Doon-Boulder Creek.

A lady with her teen daughter saw a puma long tail, mod. size in field north of parking lot at McClellen Ranch Preserve Cupertino and going toword back of bee hives. Rangers found scat 1-2 days after.

Large male on the fence, looked relaxed. I had a flashlight on him for perhaps 2 to 3 minutes and we just talk to each other then I got out of there! Deerwood Drive, Ukiah

Walking in coyote hills towards parking lot when several deer ran past me. Big mountain lion crossed our path. We called 911 but they couldn't dispatch rangers? Mountain lion ran away once several bikers came down the street. This was in June, I didn't pursue the report but hopefully it'll help your research on Coyote Hills! Kind of scary how close it was to the parking lot and it was not scared (by permit machine). I could not take picture since I was about to pee in my pants! 911 recording can be retrieved.

Looking out window and spotted a mountain lion walking across our front (rural) yard. Told my husband "mountain lion" in front yard. Grabbed a camera, but were too late.

I was parked on Lake Drive near Lake Hodges and a mid sized mountain lion crossed Lake Drive moving west.

3526 Thurber Ln, Santa Cruz, saw a puma run across Thurber Lane moving from 3526 Thurber Lane to the small field across the street. Appeared to be average size

There was a mountain lion spotted this evening (9:20 PM, Monday, June 6, 2017) at the bottom of the hill at the corner of Thurber Lane and Benson St., Santa Cruz.

We live very close to the river, as shown. Tonight we suddenly heard what sounded like a woman's very loud hoarse scream. We heard it about 12 - 15 times. We saw an animal run across the first row of trees (in the walnut orchard) next to the river, then it disappeared. We compared the sound to the sound of a mountain lion (on line) and it sounded identical. The only thing is, the animal was dark? Just want to put this out there in case others have seen or heard one as well.

river of a vehicle said she saw a mountain lion cross in front of her. Sheriff's officials said that the cat crossed from east to west on Crestview Drive just north of Melendy Drive.

3300 block of Brittan Avenue where a resident said he saw a mountain lion standing on a hillside northeast of his carport. Sheriff's officials said in each sighting the cat left the area on its own. The cat went northwest into the Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve following the second sighting.

Let 2 dogs out. Yard is bright w/ 4 flood lights. Heard cough, light large animal clearing throat from area of barn or shed in RBG. Cough repeated, louder and closer -- animal approached lights and dogs. Animal jumped atop 6' fence and its eyes "glowed" white in beam of my flashlight. Eyes were 3-5" apart. Very loud cough. Called dogs in, eyes and cough followed them along fence toward Wimbledon.

Ran directly in front of my car out of the woods, so clear view of it. Back was about 2 feet off the ground. Length, 3 feet plus tail. Very muscular.
