Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

I have a trail camera set up right off Skyline Blvd near the entrance to the Phleger Estate and got these images/video a few days ago. Figured I'd share since it might interest you! I've seen that you have some trail cams along the same path - wondering if you got any footage of the same lion. *The date on my camera is wrong - these were captured on Sunday October 25. The time stamp is correct.

Was walking trails in Muir Woods when we were at the top by a street. Then walked down a paved road (Alice Eastwood road)where I saw about 100 yards away a full grown puma walking up. I decided to walk back right away since it was walking our way.

I saw the puma crossing Sunshine Valley Rd. at 9:18pm on Oct. 14th, 2020. It was about the size of a juvenile deer, just under a meter tall and probably 2 to 2.5 meter long from head to tail. It crossed the road, south to north. It ran up the hillside and then remained on the hill, in the trees, where I then grabbed my cell phone light and was then able to see it's eyeshine for about half a minute before it disappeared into the trees. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions about the sighting you my have.

Walking dogs. Didn't get a well lit view with my headlamp, but pretty sure I saw a long tail. Wasn't phased when my two large dogs started barking. Stared for a few seconds and then calmly walked into a yard and out of view. Reaction was not like any deer or coyotes we've encountered. Maybe you can check your location trackers and let me know if I actually spotted a puma. I'll check if the homeowner has a security camera tomorrow

Saw a mountain lion walking on and then jumping from the Pierce Road (about 30 feet north of the Mount Eden junction) into the woods. I did not see its head, but from the color of the fur, the size of the body (larger than coyote or bobcat) and the jumping capability, I am certain it was a cougar.

I heard a puma on three occasions around this date. It was at my residence which is immediately adjacent to Samuel P Taylor State Park. It doing an "aow" call (like this...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaBeIRWGwgg). Neighbors had a half-eaten adult deer on their property around this time. Also, recent search and rescue teams uphill on Barnabe Mt reported 3-4 other suspected puma killed deer. I saw one of your cameras this evening just up above my house on the Barnabe Trail fire road. I saw at least one puma sized, fur laden, scat along the road. I am a wildlife field biologist, I haven't directly studied puma but have a solid sense for all other wildlife sounds and scat. I would be happy to participate in this project if there are other ways I can be helpful.
