While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

We heard noise on our roof - my husband went outside to see what it was and saw it jump from the roof down into next door neighbor's property, onto their front porch area- their NEST cam saw it hang out there for a couple of minutes. We live on Sterling Ave in Pedro Point.

First of all, I am unsure if it was truly a puma that I saw, but it is likely. I was sitting outside on the second floor and heard a brief deep snarling sound, followed immediately by a brief whimper of a dog. I then looked around and a minute or so later heard some rustling closer by in the bushes below along the perimeter of a courtyard containing a swimming pool, after which I saw a large, low, smooth shape pass by briskly between the shadows of the trees. I am unsure if this was indeed a puma, but considering the unfamiliar snarl, it is probable enough that it warrants sharing. The only event that could definitely corroborate the sighting is if any reports of an attack on a dog or a missing dog should appear subsequently.
