Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

The video speaks for itself, west side of the CC Canal Spur Trail. I think I saw her again tonight in the grassy knoll behind my house at 11:30 pm. Many sightings in the area. Spectacular Video!

While driving home to San Anselmo, at 849 Nicasio Valley Road a Puma leap over the East fencing into the road at 10:20 PM on direct collision with my Tesla. I had no time to brake so accelerated, and as the Tesla screams faster at any speed I managed to outrun the Puma allowing it to pass behind my vehicle in what otherwise would have been air bags and a dead cat. It was about 1 meter high and 2 meters long. The tail was as long as the body! Thank God (and Tesla) I as able to miss it. Unfortunately, my car video was not engaged :-(.

Lion crossed paved road from south to north about 30 yards in front of a group of bicyclists. Lion headed into brush towards Coyote Creek.
Fur looked darker and fuzzier than I would have expected - probably a juvenile lion?

The cat was sleeping literally across a hiking trail, I thought it was a log at first, but realized it was a cat about 15-20' from it, I started to back up and it heard me, got up and pounced about 10' away and then turned and looked at me for maybe 5 seconds, then casually lopped away down the hill and out of sight. I fumbled with my camera and was not able to get a picture, I did get a crappy picture of a paw print. I would estimate it weighed between 90 and 120 lbs, but that is a super rough guess - beautiful and scary animal !

My security camera caught this beauty walking in front and my backyard on the 30th. Please disregard the time stamp, it was actually one hour later than the stated time. My family and I have witnessed many animals in our yard before, but this is the first time we've seen a mountain lion before.

Riding on Fiddle-Hall Ranch Trail into strong wind, and coming around a corner the Puma was walking away down trail at most 40 feet away. After a few seconds the puma heard me, took a look and began to slowly trot further down trail. This cat was large and muscularly defined. Absolutely, Majestic.

Was running at 5:45 AM on Greenhill Rd with a headlamp and saw a juvenile mountain loin in a prone position in the street looking directly at me. It was focused on my light. I have seen a lot of wildlife in the area and know this was a mtn lion which I have seen since living in the area. Unfortunately, I made a rookie mistake and turned and ran away looking back. I stayed but lost sight after one turn. Leslie Miekley
