Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Close to midnight I heard a loud cat noise. I looked out from the window and saw a Puma. It stood under the streetlight by the visitor parking area for about 5 seconds and then ran towards Rossmoor Community Gardens.

On Old Spanish Trail about 1000ft from the Alpine Trail trailhead. Saw it crossing the trail and into the bushes. Seemed young, and was mewing for its mother - I presumed, but didn't stay long enough to find out.

A Neighbor posted this on Nextdoor: Mountain Lion in Ridgemont. At 8:30 AM this morning my wife saw a mountain lion in our front yard on Campus Drive. The lion walked slowly across our yard and disappeared. It came up from Leona Canyon behind our house. She said it was gray and about the size of a German Shepard dog. It had a long tail and triangular shaper ears.

I was on rock spring trail and heard a noise up the hillside. I stopped and looked around and saw an animal in the manzanita. I saw a really long tail. My impression of it was of a juvenile animal- it was really lean and too big to be a Bobcat (I've seen bobcats) but didn't look like a full sized lion. It watched me for a long time, probably five minutes. **staff isn't sure if this is a puma or not

going for a run just before dawn at 5:08am, saw a small cat on the trail, and assumed it was a bobcat. It was shrieking, and did not scamper off. As I got closer, it went into bushes next the trail and kept the screeching sounds. I could see the eyes in the bushes but not make out the animal. Only later did I wonder if it was a puma cub crying for it's mom. Can't see anything in the video, Can you tell from sounds in the audio? I can send to you if you would like.
** staff received audio and identified it as gray fox
