Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Sighted a bobcat on the coastal trail where the biking and hiking trails meet near Rodeo Beach. Cat hopped off the trail in front of us and stared at my husky and I for around about a minute just ~15ft away before it scampered off. If I had to guess, I'd say it was ~15-20lbs.

3.17.22 at 9:00am a single, healthy looking puma walked atop a cement retaining wall along side my home; the wall is between my home and my next door neighbor's driveway. I was in my home and saw the puma through my window. It was walking towards the back of my property which is open space. The following day my neighbor installed a camera on a tree behind his home. Today, 3.25.22, at 1:55am the camera photographed a puma. (photo uploaded). The camera also photographed a bobcat on either 3.19.22 or 3.20.22 at approx 11:00am (currently no photo; will submit if available).

It was just a little past midnight and the corner light outside our house got triggered. I looked outside our window and saw the mountain lion walking in the creek (there's a long slab of rock in the middle) about 25 feet from our bedroom window. Our lights were turned off and when it heard me call my husband, it paused really quick to listen, then moved on. It was just walking casually, no rush. It was an adult, much bigger than the ones I've seen people show on their cameras.

Running the Green Gulch Trail (where it passes through the farm) early in the morning - saw a bobcat kitten out on the trail, alone, about 20' up. It looked very young - little, spotted, fluffy fur, notable tufted ears and tipped tail. When it noticed me, it seemed scared and ran under a gardening truck to hide. No sign of the mama or other kittens.

Deer Carcass. The Location is precise. It was not a fawn but still a smaller deer and a doe/female. Carcass was beneath the canopy of a large oak tree. Bones were picked relatively clean of flesh. The skull was partially eaten especially the nasal area. I noticed the carcass initially because of the presence of 4 vultures on the ground and sitting in nearby trees. There was a flat area below where the carcass was where the struggle between the deer and its predator may have taken place. Since it was a smaller deer, perhaps a large bobcat killed it but i think it is more likely that a Puma killed the deer. The lower portions of the feet hadn't been eaten much and still had fur intact. The ends of the ribs had been devoured. Located near the North Rim Trail and the Weather Loop Trail.
