Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Allie Martinez posted in Rio Vista Community Bulletin (and reshared on Rio Vista Friends of the Paw FB page, and on Rio Vista NextDoor social media. Her Ring camera picked up what looked to be a juvenile mountain lion. Another neighbor claimed that she had two chickens mauled the same evening and the gate and fence surrounding her yard were undisturbed. There is an unverified claim that there was a sighting inside Trilogy on Sunday or Monday.

Spotted the big cat during my morning walk on the trail. The big cat was walking quite briskly, approx 100 feet ahead of me. It then disappeared while I continued walking on the trail. Pretty sure it's not bob cat, as I had close encounter with bob cat in San Juan Canyon/Sugarloaf open space

Standing in my daughter's backyard on Whitecliff Way in south Walnut Creek, which backs up to the Twin Ponds Loop trail between Shell Ridge and Diablo Foothills Park. Their golden retriever spotted something and I captured photos of a large bobcat lurking away from the backyard fence up into the hills. He had been spotted along the fence a week ago by my son-in-law and on their front porch 6 weeks earlier.

I was riding my mountain bike west towards Cattle Hill in the Sweeney Ridge portion of the GGNRA. I came round the corner and the mountain lion was running away from me in the middle of the trail and then proceeded to disappear into the bushes. I proceeded to ride along the trail and saw it under a tree a short distance from the trail. I stopped about 20 yards past that location and took the photo as the cat proceeded cautiously back out onto the trail. I walked slowly away for 10 yards and then hopped back on my bike and rode off.
