While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

We were walking our two dogs, when we encountered the large puma laying down about 15 feet from us. As we started backing up away it slowly got up and starting walking towards us, but then ran the other way.

The lion was seen a week ago on Thursday at around 9:20 AM. The workmen were at my house and they took pictures of it. It was walking along near them and then ran off into the bushes. Lions have been seen recently by a number of people. The workmen had left food scraps in a debris pile and this probably attracted the lion. Last evening my dog found bones from a small animal in the back of our house. The previous night she was barking like crazy in that direction but I can not say if there was a coyote or a lion. We have a small coyote who lives closeby and is seen frequently. The dog is a tall thin German Shepherd mix and I wonder if she is endanger? I think if she saw the lion she would go for it. The workmen said the lion was larger than her and more muscular.

Close to midnight I heard a loud cat noise. I looked out from the window and saw a Puma. It stood under the streetlight by the visitor parking area for about 5 seconds and then ran towards Rossmoor Community Gardens.

Animal has been in the neighborhood for a while; appears to be a bobcat. Has attacked & killed two cats in the last two days (Gary Ave & Hemme Ave), was trying to attack a third on La Serena Ct. (location of the picture)

On Old Spanish Trail about 1000ft from the Alpine Trail trailhead. Saw it crossing the trail and into the bushes. Seemed young, and was mewing for its mother - I presumed, but didn't stay long enough to find out.

A Neighbor posted this on Nextdoor: Mountain Lion in Ridgemont. At 8:30 AM this morning my wife saw a mountain lion in our front yard on Campus Drive. The lion walked slowly across our yard and disappeared. It came up from Leona Canyon behind our house. She said it was gray and about the size of a German Shepard dog. It had a long tail and triangular shaper ears.
