While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Saw a pair of pumas that had just crossed Alba Road and were entering the forest. The both seemed to be the same size (large) and moved in unison. Very surreal.

While heading to work from my driveway - I saw a large animal come out of bushes, stand in the street, and then run off very fast darting into hills. It was dark, but I am pretty sure it was a mountain lion - It moved incredibly fast and silently while running.

A puma killed my pet goat in my backyard. How do I know it was a puma? Because it dragged his body into a copse of trees and ate the leg off, leaving the rest of the body. Also, my neighbor two houses over told me she lost two goats to a cougar two weeks ago and this other lady about a mile away said she lost FIVE in one night. I wish I'd known that the cougar LIVES ON THIS BLOCK before it killed my goat. So yeah, thanks... I think people should know so they can bring their pets in.

Pulled off Hwy 9 onto Quigg Way and puma was walking on the side of the road. Stuck around for a minute, then jumped up the hill, stayed there for another minute looking at me (I was in my car) and then wandered into the darkness towards Upland Drive. First one I've ever seen in my 30+ years up on Quigg Way.

PUMA was walking down road in front of vehicle. It looked to be just over 2 ft tall and was light brown with dark markings on its face. It moved to bank beside road and stayed there as we stopped the car. It was not frightened and sat for 20 seconds or so just staring at us. My wife tried to grab her cell phone. She got a picture of it walking away, but is barely visible.

I was driving westbound on Edgewood Road at about 6:30 a.m. A very large cat ran across Edgewood in front of me, from the south side to the north. I was struck by its size and by its long, curving tail (almost curled up at the tip).
