Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Puma was standing in road 100 yards in front of me, stared at me and my dogs for a few seconds, then turned and jumped down into creek bed. Multiple neighbors have also reported sightings in recent days, lots of deer with fawns travel along creek.

Here is the second of three different sightings in the woodside/atherton area. This was posted on Nextdoor woodside. "PSA: huge mountain lion stalking our horses tonight on Kings Mountain Rd near Skyline. Let us know if you have any tips to scare them off. It was massive! Thankfully our dog saw it, gave chase and scared it away (at least for now)." Again, I live in the SC Mts but work in this area and wanted you to be informed.

Cat was observed in a backyard downslope area in San Anselmo resting in shade for about 30 minutes. It didn't show any signs of distress or bad behavior. The cat was very dark in color - close to black or dark gray. There is a lot of open space nearby at Sorich Park and Faude Preserve.

The Neighbors posted in on the Atherton neighborhood email. A young Juvy about 3 time the size of a D. cat lightly spotted. It was on their garden bridge. Their girls were so excited that they scare it way before mom could any picture. I work next door at 42 Ridgeview. I live in the SC Mtns and am more accustom to sightings - they also informed A. Police. Just wanted to inform you of this. There have been others whitch I will also post.

On my way to work this morning I saw a small cat on the side of Ygnacio Valley Road. This was not a domestic cat but I believe a young Mountain Lion. It was tan and had rounded ears. The poor little thing probably was hit while running across that busy road.
I don't know if these sightings get tracked or if he/she could be picked up for research.

Walking up Gazos Creek Road. 1/2 mile up from gate, a puma with 3 kittens comes down a side trail and turns up GCR. I was less than 20 feet away. Fortunately, she didn't see me. I backed around the corner and returned to my car. After waiting an hour, I (stupidly) returned to my hike. When I reached 3/4 up GCR, I turned a corner and there she was with her 3 kittens. She screamed at me, but didn't attack. She was more interested in her kittens. I slowly backed down around the corner and quickly returned to my car. I haven't returned since (too scared).
