Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

My neighbors at 3918 Las Flores and friends were bbqing as we do often and I looked up the hill and watched a full adult ML pass outside a chain link fence along a game trail. Many deer are inside the backyard area grazing throughout the year with offspring. The Lion passed by and stopped under tree and could be vaguely seen waiting in the deep shadow of tree. One resident went into building and could see a deer run across Las Flores most likely fleeing the predator. First and only sighting of this lion by me. Two other residents witnessed as well.

Just saw a mountain lion behind our house on Rockville Rd. We back up to Rockville Hills Park. While I was watering my plants on my back deck, my dogs kept barking and looking at one area of our property. I couldn't see it until it decided to jump off a rock. It was very big and wandered off as I immediately got my dogs and myself into the house.

I saw what looked like a big housecat with a very long tail - as long as the cat - walking determinedly across our driveway out to Long Ridge Road. The cat was "thicker" than a house cat - approx 20 # and a darker than the 'blond' color of adult mt. lion. Cat did not pause or look around.

Mountain lion running along Guadalupe River, at intersection of Old Almaden Road and Foxworthy. Started on opposite side of the river, when it saw me jogging, it jumped across the river and ran towards me. I was able to run away and it lost interest.

Enormous lion (unmistakable) ran across Birch Street at Franklin. I was driving home in my car, followed it for a block until it crouched in a neighbor's driveway for a few minutes and took off through neighborhood to the east

Yesterday evening, around 10 PM, I saw a juvenile mountain lion on our property at 1951 Rockville Rd. I found him/her casing our duck pen. I believe it was he/her who killed two ducks the previous night. We have beefed up defenses for our stock, following the loss of the ducks.

As I turned the corner I saw a large dog sized cat with an extremely long and bushy tail run from the road. It lept off the road into the brush, jumping much further than any dog could. I believe it was investigating roadkill as there was a carcass on the side of the road nearby

Putting away my animals for the night and one wasn't there. A quick scan I saw her (goat) body in the brush, but didn't see the lion at the time. I approached and as I did the mountain lion took off across the pasture (high dry grass so it blended in). The goat's throat was still wet from where it suffocated her.

Puma about the size of a Labrador crossed the Ridgeview Trail about 50 ft in front of me. I was running east on the trail and the puma was heading south, downhill. It was a clear, unobstructed view and I was able to see its distinctive long, thick tail with a dark tip. Did not stop to take notice of me, rather was running down the hill. Did not have time to try to snap a photo. Would guess that it was not full size...probably not an adult.
