Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

I was hiking at Briones Regional Park in Martinez, CA. On my way back to the parking lot I saw 2 mountain lions sitting side by side on a hill about a 100 yards away from my friend and myself. The two pumas then got up and were walking parallel to our path, pacing us. We turned left on the trail to head back to the parking lot which caused a hill to separate us from the pumas by creating a fork in the road, therefore preventing them from stalking us further.

We were late coming back to the car, after dark, and as we crossed a stream to approach the backside of Azalea hill, we heard a mountain lion screaming and thrashing around in the bushes. We backtracked and the lion followed us in the bushes, occasionally screaming or thrashing the bushes, as we walked through the golf course and up meadow club road. The lion didn't come out or attack us so I think she was protecting a den with cubs.

Driving to Fremont Pk. St. park just after sunset/dusk around 8:30 pm. Ran into road was looking at rear end thought it was a Coyote, until it turned right and ran across the lanes and into the bush. Driving east on Hwy 84. Came around a right hand turn and the lion was on the embankment on the right hand side of the road. It turned and leapt up into the brush as my car approached.
Looked juvenile, possibly 40 lbs. I saw the full body and tail (dark tip) but did not see the head (behind brush)

I was riding my bike east from point Reyes to Petaluma on the point Reyes Petaluma road. The mountain lion was stalking in a field to our right by black mountain ranch. I took a photo but it was at a bit of a distance. That said there was no doubt that it was a mountain lion. It appeared to be stealthily moving as if it were stalking, but we did not observe an attempted kill.

On Sunday April 8, my wife and I had a close encounter with a Mt. She gave us a look and kept on her way. This happened at approx 5:45 pm -
