Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Walked around a corner going down the Santos Trail, saw a very big mountain lion (200+ pounds) gazing intently at a herd of cows about 500 yards away. I was about 50 feet from the cat. I quickly and quietly went back up the trail and booked it back to my car

I was walking, chatting with my boyfriend when he yelled at me to move away from the bush. I then realized that the noise I had been hearing was a mountain lion growling at us. It was right beside us. We did not see it. At home we checked the growl of a puma on YouTube and it sounded the same.

I was hiking on the Coastal Trail above the valley trail to Tennessee Beach. At first I thought it was a large dog but when I looked through my binoculars, it was clearly a mountain lion, and not a bobcat. Long and sleek with what looked to be a damaged tail.

While walking on a Sequoias Senior Living trail, I saw a tan, lean, (100 lb?) mountain lion ~200' ahead, running downhill to the left, apparently fleeing our approach. As we walked another 150' we saw a pair of turkeys walking uphill to the right of the trail. We suspected that the lion had been stalking the turkeys until we interrupted.
