While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

We saw TWO adult mountain lions one after the other a few minutes into the trail at woods road.
They were around 6 feet in length. One jumped across the trail the other followed closely behind and scampered up a tree. They appeared to be at play.

The exterior motion alarms went off and lights went on to reveal a puma walking up our driveway. It walked up our back stairs and stopped within 12 feet of our bathroom window. It stood there a few minutes, then backtracked down the stairs and slowly walked down the driveway and disappeared.

While mountain biking on Arastadero Creek trail, just west of Acorn trail a ~70lb puma crossed Arastadero Creek trail heading south. Puma was not collared, nor interested in me. Two runners had just gone by in the opposite direction and not seen the puma. I could not identify male or female.

Three neighbors reported seeing a smaller puma (apparent adolescent, no spots, black tail tip, bigger than a bobcat) on the hillside NW of the Canon Village swimming pool, 135 Mitchell Drive, Fairfax, CA 94930. Another neighbor reported seeing (apparently) the same puma cross the street at 54 Glen Drive, approximately 500 yards NW of the first sighting, on Jan 4, 2020 at 5pm.

This cat was captured on our camera in Pacifica California. We just built a playground and it seems like a lot of wildlife are using that area as a trail. Two weeks ago our camera caught what we thought was a mountain lion but we only got the back end of it and it's long tail so we move the camera and we captured this Cat. It won't let me post the video so if you email me I can send it to you directly

We have had a cougar on our property. It has been seen twice now. 20 minutes ago it walked up to our 16 year old son. The cougar came out on the property line by our boat shed. Last time it was on our other driveway by our shop.

The size of a deer, with a long tail, deep tan in color. Moving up the hillside, went into stretch of rip rap used for hill stabilization. Jumping amongst the rocks. Beautiful to watch, 30 seconds, before it vanished over the top of the ridge.

Route market 108, large young mountain lion crossed road slowly and went into hushes. We stopped the car and could hear it moving around in the bushes about 6 feet off the toad for several minutes. It was 10pm so therefore dark.

Saw the puma while resting at the Cottle Rest Area. I tried to frighten it off by shouting and raising my arms. It eventually wandered off without approaching.
