Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

Driving on Canada South saw a mountain lion scurry across the road. Distinctive tail and gaint. Probably about 70 yards away. It went down. Into the ditch as I drove by and didn't get a better look.

on Dec 3rd at about 5.30pm (just after sunset) I've seen a large Mountain Lion near a trail (near Proctor Trail Start Place) in Castro Valley, CA (I wanted to add a location to your map but wasn't able to)...I would have never seen it myself since it made no sound at all, but my little Miniature Pincher spotted the Mountain Lion (usually when he see's a deer or another animal like a raccoon she barks but today she was just looking at the Mountain Lion), the Mountain Lion walked slowly up the hill (maybe just 30 meters away from us), I recognized that it was a Mountain Lion because of it's distinctive hump on it's back and the body was kinda low to the ground with a large long tail, at this moment I knew 100% it wasn't a coyote or a deer. The Mountain Lion appeared calm and relaxed, no aggressive behavior at all. Not to far away I've seen 2 young deer approximately 10minutes before the Mountain Lion Sighting.

I live near the top of Blue Ridge Drive in Boulder Creek. I have seen Puma here at least 3 or 4 times in the 6 years I have lived here, including 2 times in the last month (possibly the same cat). I was in a converted garage on my property, and heard a noise outside on or about the end of November 2017/early December. I thought it was my roommate. I went out the door to look around the corner, and a puma halfway around the corner of the garage saw or heard me coming out the door and turned around and ran or trotted back down the hill after I called my roommates name. There is a gate there which is sometimes open which is access to Blue Ridge Dr. Knowing exactly what I had seen (and having encountered a female and three cubs twice (same family, the same week) in the upper (creek) trail in Villa Montalvo near the end of Norton Road about 12-13 years ago at only 20 feet away). I yelled loudly to scare the Puma on my property away (11/30/17). It was a large uncollared 2 to 3 year old male about 160 to 180+ pounds. About a week ago, I was coming home at a similar time of night (8:50PM or so), and I saw what could be the very same male crossing the street in plain view in front of my car (Xenon headlights). He did not appear scared of the vehicle, but picked up the pace a little so as to cross the road before I reached him. I'm almost certain this cat was also a mature young (160 to 180Lbs) male (and possibly the same cat). There is a creek that runs down the side of my property, and a damaged fence. Deer come on my property frequently to feed. A couple years back during winter there were obvious ML tracks on the side of the very same garage in the mud. And some are still there from what I believe to be only a month or two ago. I'm considering putting a game camera up. Definitely all mountain lions, though there are all kinds of other animals up here also (obviously). Have had a raccoon problem and possums and skunks specifically. Wasn't able to take a picture. Encounters far too short time wise.

Laurel Wood Trail near Belmont entrance, by the bench sitting in the tree grotto. There were two mountain lions spotted by a group of star gazers. We initially spotted them by seeing their reflective eyes in the darkness. We shined flashlights on them and they were two full grown mountain lions a little off the trail. We were able to safely back away and make it back to the car, the lions made no movements toward us.

Taking my dogs out for the night I saw something jump into a large oak tree in our yard. My dog was very inquisitive and as I walked towards the tree something growled at me, a low, guttural growl from up in the tree. The dog at that point was very difficult to control so I went back inside the house.

Saw puma stalking a skunk and inadvertently scared them both by driving up. Probably saved all 3 of us a bad time. Didn't see a tracking collar on it, but about 35 feet away when we saw it in the dark.
