Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map

At about 5:14-5:17am on (07/19/2023) a mountain lion was caught on our driveway camera going up the stairs to our house. Our neighbor stated he lets his dog ( a small terrier) out around this time. Our cats are still alive and it hasn’t been spotter since. 

Around 2am 7/18/2023, heard repeated mountain lion calls and eventually got a glimpse of it. My neighbor and I have been hearing these calls several times over the last two weeks. This time I was able to spot it on the steep open meadow below me above the Head Royce school playing field after climbing up my fence and exchanging lion calls with it for about 45 minutes (yes, I am known to do a very convincing imitation of their calls). I saw its shadowy shape walk across the meadow from the right, where the calls had been emanating from. After disappearing to the left behind trees, it started calling again and this time the calls were coming from that direction instead. I had a phone up on my deck above me recording 7 minutes (audio) of my conversation with the lion. I changed my location on Melvin Road several times to triangulate where the lion's location was, all the while exchanging calls with it. Based on its calls I could determine I was at a safe distance. But once the lion finally stopped returning my calls I returned to my property and went into the house. That's because I felt safe outside when I knew where the lion was calling from, but not safe hearing nothing at all!

Hopped our fence and into our garden located on Bay Vista Dr, Mill Valley, Ca, 94941. 

Big mountain Lion walking down driveway towards south. 

About .25mi below the top of Parker Ranch trail. I turned a corner where the trail winds through some shade and saw the puma. At first I thought it was a bobcat based on the size, but then saw the long flowing tail. I’m guessing it was an adolescent since it wasn’t very large. It quickly scurried down the trail. Unfortunately, no photo. (Another trail runner saw a similarly sized puma on Wedding Trail near this point a couple weeks ago.)
