While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

After leaving the boardwalk, we were walking along the trail behind the houses, along the golf course that connects to Fairway drive. In the thick trees, we could hear a puma calling very close to us. Due to proximity and thickness of vegetation, we did not try to view it. It sounded like a female calling for a mate.

We saw this beauty along the Cardinet trail on Mt Diablo. It wasn’t very scared of us. It slowly walked, and would turn to look at us for about a minute then left the trail towards the creek.

I was walking to my car when I noticed a large animal. At first I thought it was a coyote (which we have a lot of them in our area) but the size and the way it moved was definitely a mt. lion. I was shaking so much. I did report to Pacifica PD's non-emergency line.

Our house faces the open trail. I heard an animal “screaming” and looked out the window onto the trail. The bobcat was 30 feet down the trail, with a squirrel in its mouth. It had spots on its coat, black tipped ears and a short black tipped tail. A coyote came down from the hill beside our house and chased the bobcat into the bushes. I’ve lived here 4 years and see coyotes almost daily. But never a bobcat. Especially in the middle of the afternoon (sighting approx 5pm).
