Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

The morning of 10-17-2025 my wife was walking at the back of Shadow Creek on the gravel road that connects Bourne court/lane and when she was near the bottom of that gravel road spotted a mountain lion just slightly up the hill in taller grass. She was so startled and scared she didn’t have time to take a photo of it before it ran - it was probably 50’ away from her. I asked if she was sure it wasn’t a bobcat and she said no it wasn’t it was much bigger and she saw the long tail!

This Bobcat is out for a Sunday morning stroll across the Orinda property from North to South. It starts in fence/planter area with the bird bath in the foreground, travels across the patio, takes a turn down the stairs under the Persimmon trees then continues on the hillside game trail toward the neighbor on the South.

Jumped from tree onto roof of my house then jumped down to ground and ran towards pool area. I ran to kitchen from inside my house and saw the bobcat on my pool deck near kitchen. It turned around and looked at me for a few seconds, then it ran quickly towards the woods and easily jumped onto the redwood fence and into the woods. First time in 30 years I’ve ever seen a bobcat on my property or in my residential neighborhood or even in the woods behind my back fence. This bobcat looked like a younger animal—perhaps a bobcat teenager looking for food or prey. Sighting was around 11:30 am!

I was walking my dog and the cub ran past us across Eastwood Ave; into the creek bed. The animal was too big to be a bobcat and too small to be a mountain lion. I immediately googled what a cub looks like, and ‘Eureaka!”
