Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map
While many people are confident they've seen a puma, not all of these sightings are accurate. The map below includes both confirmed and unverified puma sightings in the larger San Francisco Bay region (and beyond) since 2004.
Over time, this will help us evaluate problem areas, movement barriers for wildlife, and potential for human-puma conflict.

No doubt a cougar. I’d say 160-200 lbs. white face, long tail, terrifying! Took devils gulch (Samuel p Taylor) fire road up to the property line/fence. I’m thinking I must of scared the cat out from where it was bedded down because a previous scan with binoculars I didn’t see it. Then outta nowhere it was 200-250 yards away about 75’ from the top of the ridge. The encounter lasted at least 10 min. The cat showed no fear and could care less I was there. After 10 min or so it walked up to the peak, under the fence and it was gone. I know that most claims turn out to be bobcats, this is not such a case. It was def a mountain lion.

A single bobcat was photographed in the early morning hours along the boundary line of the neighboring property. The animal walked along a wire mesh fence on a sloped hillside covered in fallen leaves. The photo captures the cat in profile under overhanging branches. Species identification is supported by the visible short tail, distinct coat pattern, and long-legged feline build. This early observation establishes a baseline of historical movement along this perimeter.

Captured on our blink camera at 9:36 pm.
There is a gate in front of him and if he jumped he would have been roaming downtown Half Moon Bay, CA.

This mom and cub came through our yard at 7:00 Saturday night, then again at 2:00 Sunday morning. The cub isn’t visible on the second part, but another camera caught the cub’s glowing eyes about 10 feet away at the same time. I am logging as two separate sightings.

My son and I encountered a mountain lion while we were hiking/walking the Crystal Springs Cross Country trail loop, above Hallmark Park in Belmont. I noticed it walking up a hill (right next to another part of the trail) maybe 150 feet from us then it stopped, saw us, turned facing us, and sat down while it watched us. I called 911. At a certain point it started coming toward us and we started yelling and waving our arms and it scampered away a little, then we kept screaming until it we couldn’t see it anymore. We last saw it going toward another part of the loop trail. When we finally saw the cops at the entrance, they were nonchalant, said they often get sightings from the neighborhood (these are usually at night or very early morning like 3am, from what I’ve seen!), they didn’t want to alarm anyone, and the lion was probably just hungry. (!) I was shocked, as the encounter was incredibly close, scary, and on the walking trail at 1pm, and it was coming toward us! Other people use this trail, and I’m sure it will be used tomorrow on Thanksgiving. Furthermore, there are NO mountain lion warning signs anywhere in this location or at the entrance to the trail. Every other open space park nearby has warning signs, including what to do if you encounter one. I think a sign needs to be put up there asap.

I have numerous mountain lion videos, all caught on Ring cameras. I also have several bobcats on video. All of them are walking on my driveway. I think my driveway is a sort of game trail. Most of these videos are at night but I have a few that are daytime sightings as well.
The videos are too large to upload. I tried to upload a video but was told it was too large.
If you have another place to upload large videos, please let me know - as I said, I have a lot of these videos of both mountain lions and bobcats.
