Puma & Bobcat Sightings Map

Big and looked healthy, relaxed.

I thought it was a mountain lion until he turned around and I saw it had no tail.

Felton cub incident: mom and cub reunited

The bobcat was sighted in the morning in one backyard. S/he then went on to attack two chickens in the neighboring backyard around late morning. We believe s/he ate one chicken entirely. Then s/he was seen in the next neighbor’s backyard that night. 

We were just starting the climb up the hog back fire road trail, just west of the Throckmorton in Fire Station. 
On my left, I saw a puma traveling south through the brush, exactly parallel to me 25 feet or so to my left, as I was climbing up the hill. 
I had a full view of its body for about 3.5 seconds as it walked at a brisk pace in full view. After looking at archive footage, I can confirm it must be an adolescent puma. 
It made eye contact with me for about a second and a half, as it moved briskly off away from my direction over the hill behind the brush, and out of view, to my left (Through the brush, towards the ocean).
It had a tail that was perhaps 1/2 the length of its own body so it was definitely not a bobcat, and it was definitely a feline face with the black ‘mustache’ color framing its mouth from below, the middle of it nose down below the lips.

The photo showing the puma furthest from the photographer is the approximate size *of what I saw, but much closer.

the close-up photo is extremely similar to the cat. I saw a smaller version of this. It was bright light out by the way, and around noon when I saw it.
The hide and face are very close to the cat in the close up photo. 

 

I was walking my dog at 7:45pm. My dog hesitated as we approached George street but I encouraged him to keep going, and as we passed the driveway on our left, an animal came out of the shadows of the driveway towards us. As first I thought maybe it was a coyote but as we walked past and it circled around behind us I turned and saw it’s face - definitely a mountain lion! It was a small one, about the same size as my dog who is a lean 65 pounds. The puma stopped to watch us after it circled behind us and I grabbed my phone to use the flashlight. I made loud noises as I slowly walked backward, doing my best to keep my dog behind me. I walked backward into the lighted driveway behind me and called my partner to come pick us up.

My friend was mountain biking up on Sweeney Ridge, when he saw it right before the meadow loop on the Sweeney Ridge fire road.

Not 100% if this is a puma or bobcat!

This puma came through our yard around 2:30am.

Not very bashful for a bobcat. Small in size, posed for all of our pictures, casually strutting across the rode.

Heard loud screeching, snorting and what sounded like extremely aggressive bird calls. I thought a raccoon was injured but it continued and it sound like it was walking in a large circle. I am used to the raccoons in the area so I know what they look like and sound like, I know their sounds. This was wildly different, louder, more aggressive and extremely creepy sounding. I used my flashlight to shine into my backyard and I noticed cat ears, large eyes and a short tail and immediately identified this as a bobcat. It was not injured, so it seems, but maybe stuck in a yard. It is still there and very loud.

It headed north out of sight toward Via Montanas.
