This summer Felidae staff and volunteers were busy participating in several outreach activities around the Bay Area! These tabling events are a great opportunity for us to share information with people across the Bay Area about Felidae Fund and about wild cats. Our volunteers did a fantastic job telling people how to tell a mountain lion apart from a bobcat, how we collect data, and they also shared tips about how to recreate responsibly in mountain lion habitat. In August and September alone, BAPP volunteers Barbara, Mike, Izabella, Yang, Richard, and Courtney represented Felidae in multiple events including SummerFest, Nature and Community Event at Sonoma Historic Park, Patagonia SF, and the Fall Festival in San Jose.

Over the past few weeks, we also gave presentations at multiple community events! This included a panel in environmental careers at Lake Merritt College, as well as a presentation for the Sequoia Audubon Society. We also shared information about wild cat ecology and research for members of the San Mateo County Parks Foundation. This event also included a hike to demonstrate our camera traps in action in San Pedro Valley Park to members of the SMCP Foundation.

Outreach events such as these are a vital part of our community engagement work. It is always great to meet people across the Bay Area and see their interest and enthusiasm for mountain lions and nature. Be sure to follow us @felidaefund to learn about future events!
